Chief Executive Officer  – County Carlow Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism CLG

 

Overview:

Carlow Chamber of Commerce, a vital voice for the business community in Carlow, is seeking a dynamic, innovative and business focused Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization towards its mission of fostering a conducive environment for business growth and success in the region. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives, building strong relationships with stakeholders, expanding membership, and ensuring operational excellence.

 

About the Chamber:

County Carlow Chamber is an independent organisation which represents the interests of all members across all business sectors in County Carlow.

We are seeking a dynamic self-starter as CEO to further develop the Chamber, continue our growth and develop links with partner organisations.

 

 

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategic Direction:

  • Provide visionary leadership to the Chamber, aligning strategies with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote Carlow as an ideal location for business, fostering economic growth and prosperity.

 

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management:

  • Build and nurture relationships with diverse stakeholders, including businesses, government agencies, community groups, and other relevant bodies.
  • Represent Carlow Chamber in various forums, conferences, and events, advocating for the interests of the business community and representations on behalf of our members.

 

Membership Development and Management:

  • Develop and execute plans to grow Chamber membership, meeting specified targets.
  • To manage, market and develop new income streams in such areas as advertising, sponsorship and general revenue earning opportunities for the Chamber.
  • Provide support and guidance to existing members, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and engagement.

 

 

Operational Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day administration and running of Carlow Chamber office, ensuring efficient operations.
  • Manage financial aspects, including budgeting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting in collaboration with appointed accountants.
  • Manage an annual budget in agreement with the finance committee and board
  • To co-ordinate committee meetings of Chamber Board and further objectives from these

 

Advocacy and Lobbying:

  • Identify key issues impacting local businesses and advocate on their behalf to influence policy development.
  • Prepare policy proposals, submissions, and responses to national and regional policy documents affecting economic development in Carlow.

 

Networking and Events:

  • Work with members to organize networking events, seminars, conferences, workshops and the Carlow Business Awards facilitating knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns, communication plans and social media projects to promote Chamber events and initiatives.

 

 

Media and Public Relations:

  • Manage media relations, including press releases, interviews, social media and responding to media inquiries.
  • Enhance the Chamber’s visibility and reputation through positive publicity, collaborations and media engagements.

 

 

Research and Investment Promotion:

  • Conduct research on policy developments, investment opportunities, and market trends relevant to Carlow.
  • Collaborate with potential investors and companies to encourage investment in Carlow while fostering economic growth.

 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role, demonstrating accountability for strategic direction and operational management
  • A dynamic self-starter that works well as an individual on his/her own initiative to drive forward the Chambers mission but also a positive team player
  • Proven track record of engaging with diverse stakeholders and building strong relationships.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams towards achieving business objectives.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including experience in financial management and achieving sales targets.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills, with the ability to speak confidently at public events.
  • Familiarity with PR activities and media engagement strategies
  • Experience with social media communication and campaigns across all platforms
  • Possess Sales and Event Management skills to organise and manage a range of events
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, or a related field (preferred ) or comparable attainments.
  • Proficient IT knowledge with experience in a wide range of business applications, platforms and systems.
