Oglesby & Butler Group plc manufactures, exports, and sells gas powered hand tools worldwide. The company offers its products through the distributors. Oglesby & Butler Group plc was incorporated in 1987 and is based in Carlow, Ireland.

Portability is the keystone of our philosophy here at ‘Portasol’. Our goal is to provide to the customer the convenience of portable gas technology in the form of heat tools such as soldering irons, glue guns, micro torches and dehorners.

We are constantly developing our technology and capabilities to provide the best solutions for portable gas powered hand tools.

Evolution
In 1984 the distinctive orange ‘Technic’ was the first pocket portable soldering iron introduced to market, and servicemen and technicians the world over were suddenly given the freedom to be able to solder joints in the field, alleviated by the need to plug in to electrical outlets. Following the original innovation of the ‘Technic’, Portasol rapidly built on this success and introduced the Professional iron, adding accessories such as hot blow and hot knife tips, and producing the first Heat tool kit.
Portasol has established itself as the world leader in its field and manufactures a comprehensive range of gas-powered soldering irons and heat tool kits; the Super-Pro is a firm favourite in the automotive aftermarket with features such as flameless hot blow for heat shrink tubing; built in blowtorch and hot knife.

Technological Capabilities
With a state of the art tool room including Star and Deco CNC machines, a plating plant, catalyst lab and moulding shop 99% of Portasol products are designed and manufactured by a team of dedicated and valued employees at our manufacturing plant in Carlow, Ireland.
