Jun 24, 2024

Michael Quinn, MD of Robert Quinn Ltd became the 39th president of County Carlow Chamber of Commerce at their AGM in the Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow, recently.  Michael takes over the role from Rowena Dooley who will remain on as vice president for the coming year.

“Our chamber of commerce has a strong sense of dedication and commitment, and I am excited about the opportunity to collaborate with our diverse board of directors in the coming year,” said Michael. “I would like to express my gratitude for the valuable contributions made by my predecessor, Rowena Dooley. I am truly impressed by her unwavering commitment to Carlow Chamber of Commerce.”

County Carlow Chamber work closely with a wide variety of members and key stakeholders in order drive development throughout the county – including Carlow County Council, local, national and European representatives, Carlow Tourism, the IDA, SETU, Chambers Ireland and Waterways Ireland to mention but a few.  “These are exciting times for county Carlow – the recent delivery of the new Corporate Services Building at SETU University, along with the allocation of €24m in URDF funding for our town centre, the exciting plans for a water hub, cultural quarter and new library facility and the development of numerous housing units are all significant advancements in our county’s development. We are experiencing significant growth in various international businesses, including MSD, UNUM, Burnside, Netwatch, and Autolaunch, among others. The arrival of Nua and the expansion of Cental Engineering are all very positive signs of growth in our region. The completion of the new IDA building paves the way for Carlow to attract additional FDI investment. This, coupled with a diverse and vibrant indigenous SME sector, bodes well for the future of the county,” explained Michael.

County Carlow Chamber of Commerce was founded on the 6 June 1947.  Since that time it has evolved and grown to over 180 members from throughout the county – and this number is growing.

“Our purpose is to represent and support the needs of our member businesses.  We provide a range of services that highlight and promote our members, as well as providing practical advice, advocacy and the opportunity to network with other businesses and with key stakeholders at home and abroad,” said Nicola Doran, CEO.

“Our aim is to continue to develop and run initiatives that support our members’ needs, and to attract new members.”
