Chambers Ireland CEO Executive Forum

I had the pleasure of attending the Chambers Ireland CEO Executive Forum in Limerick this week – an excellent opportunity to engage with fellow chamber leaders from across the country and explore key policy and regional development priorities.

Hosted by Limerick Chamber in the stunning Limerick Strand Hotel, the two-day programme was both insightful and engaging with excellence speakers and valuable peer discussions on energy, infrastructure, housing, and economic planning.

Day 1 included a comprehensive overview from Jerry Hallissey (Shannon Foynes Port Company) on the strategic importance of Europe’s deepest water port, and a timely contribution from SSE on the future of energy security – including plans for the €63.9 million Tarbert Next Generation Power Station, future-proofed for hydrogen.

We also had a lively session with Professor Stephen Kinsella (UL & ISE) on navigating economic uncertainty – so relevant at present.

The evening programme offered a welcome opportunity to experience Limerick’s cultural and tourism strengths – from a visit to King John’s Castle and a tour of Treaty City Brewery, to a performance by Limerick Opera Workshop and an evening in the city’s vibrant hospitality sector. The sun shone and the public realm improvements in the city were impressive.

Day 2 featured insights from Mayor John Moran on the first year of directly elected mayoral leadership, followed by excellent presentations from Pat Daly and Elaine O’Connor (LCCC) on Ryder Cup 2027, and Enda Power on the Limerick 2030 development strategy. The sense of momentum and progress across the county was impressive.

It was great to meet so many Chamber CEOs and to exchange ideas and insights.
