Launch exhibition Ireland ‘The Birth of Europe’

Jul 17, 2025

It was a pleasure to meet the Luxembourg Ambassador to Ireland, her excellency Florence Ensch at the launch of the exhibition Ireland and The Birth of Europe in Carlow County Museum today.

This exhibition is well worth a visit if you are in Carlow -giving insight to how St Columbanus was perhaps one of the first true Europeans back in about 600 CE.

It is part of a weekend of celebrations including a stunning walk along Columba Way finishing up in Myshall. Full details of all activities are on www.carlowtourism.com

Great to hear such interesting speakers including Bishop Denis Nulty, Mayor Paul Doogue and expert historian Professor Daibhi o’Croinin.
