County Carlow Chamber as an affiliate of Chambers Ireland has signed up to a new charter to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to reflect the objectives of relevant Goals in undertaking their activities in the future.
Chambers Ireland chief executive Ian Talbot commented on this new pledge,
“To mark this four-year anniversary of the launch of the SDGs initiative, Chambers Ireland, ICC Ireland and our affiliated Chambers together have committed to this pledge to support the SDGs. Our network values the necessity of driving sustainable development and advocating for economic growth, social equality and environmental protection.
Five specific goals have been identified which Chambers will advocate for in their work;
We will work closely with our newly created Sustainable Business Council, made up of experts from a range of companies and NGOs to support achieving these Goals and to encourage businesses and other organisations to engage with the SDGs.”
Chambers Ireland and ICC Ireland are revealing this new joint-commitment with the Chamber network in parallel with the timing of the SDGs Summit taking place this week at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
