Advocating for Carlow in Brussels and with the Central Bank of Ireland

One of our roles as your Chamber is to advocate on your behalf.

General Election

We are in the process of meeting with each of the Carlow candidates to discuss the needs of the business community – providing them with a manifesto outlining all of the issues raised by our members.

The purpose of these meetings is to ensure that any candidate that may be elected is aware of the importance of the business community to the growth and development of county Carlow.  And that they have a clear understanding of the needs of businesses throughout the county.

The EU

We recently visited Brussels with Chambers Ireland and attended a series of meetings and talks designed to inform us of developments in the EU that may influence or impact all of us, and to meet with MEP’s to highlight the needs of our members.

In the coming week we will have a short report on our website highlighting the key learnings from this trip, and outlining the issues we raised with our MEP’s.

The Central Bank of Ireland

We also met with the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland, Vasileios Madouros who hosted a lunch to meet with local business to discuss the issues that they are facing.

This was a very positive and proactive meeting – enabling businesses to ask questions and raise concerns.  We had representatives from a broad cross-section of our membership and there were very open exchanges of information.

This was part of a series of meetings that the Central Bank are undertaking to understand the needs of businesses across the country – and we would like to thank both the Deputy Governor for hosting the event and our various members for participating and representing the Carlow business community
