Chamber President Welcomes Development of Carlow Corporate and Technology Park

June 30th 2015: President of County Carlow Chamber, Derek Shannon today welcomed the announcement that the former Braun site is to be developed into a dedicated corporate and technology park for the South-East by Clyde Real Estates.  “This investment is a clear endorsement of Carlow as a place to do business and a welcome boost to the county and wider region. It is potentially transformative not just for Carlow town but the county and the south-east region. Job creation is obviously top of everyone’s agenda, the site offers huge potential at 29 acres with the existing buildings including two storey offices, manufacturing and storage, and it’s imperative that development of the site ensures maximum job creation. ”

“We already know that Carlow has a lot to offer both foreign direct and indigenous investment; access to an immediate labour pool, a strong skills base with a top-class IT located in the town, an excellent geographical location being 85km from Dublin by motorway or public transport with ease of access to other key locations such as Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and great connectivity into the wider South East, Eastern and Midlands regions.  Added to this we already have a track record of attracting and supporting FDI companies in Carlow such as MSD and UNUM.”

“The IDA and local agencies have done a tremendous job on working with Clyde Real Estate group on this and ensuring that investment comes into Carlow. The current IDA target for increased investment into the south-east region is between 30% – 40%, it’s imperative that we continue to ensure that Carlow has an attractive offering for any potential investor who may be assessing Carlow as an investment location.”

“The Chamber actively supports and promotes business development in Carlow and we are willing to do all we can to assist to encourage job creation and investment into the  county of Carlow.”
