Chamber Networking Morning at Tile N Style

County Carlow Chamber of Commerce held their first Chamber Networking morning of the year, in Tile N Style in Graiguecullen.  These events are tailored for making connections with other Carlow-based businesses – and are an ideal way to build relationships and raise your business profile.

The sessions typically begin with a few words from the host business, followed by a brief talk by an industry expert in a topical field, and then attendees get a chance to chat and make connections.  The speakers today were Bernard Horohan of Tile N Style and cybersecurity expert Eveline van Manen of Forus-P.

‘It was great to see so many businesses at the event today in Tile N Style – networking is such a key component for every business.  Thanks to Bernard and his team for hosting us – and for going to such trouble to make us all feel welcome.  Well done to Eveline for giving a clear overview of the key issues that businesses need to consider – and for giving us all some practical next steps on strengthening our online security.’ Says Norah Ryan, President of County Carlow Chamber of Commerce.

Bernard gave us some insight into how his business came about, what makes his approach unique and his plans for Tile N Style for the future.  He also touched on the value of networking and connecting with your community.  As a business, giving back – be it through sponsorship, participation on a committee or giving your time – can be powerful in so many ways and he encouraged the businesses in the room to consider this.

Eveline outlined the speed at which cyber-attacks are evolving and getting more sophisticated. She re-iterated that businesses really need to stay informed, be vigilant and focus on prevention.  In particular, she recommended caution in situations where you may feel rushed into clicking a link, sending a code or making a payment.  Her advice is always take your time and independently verify the sender or request.

The next Networking Morning will take place on the 14th of April – so save the date and we look forward to another great event.
