Chamber Responds To Carlow County Council Decision on LPT

Sep 17, 2015

16.09.2015 County Carlow Chamber had previously expressed concern that significant changes in the Local Property Tax rate would lead to an increase in commercial rates. Councillors voted not to change the rate following a debate at a special council meeting on September 14th 2015.

Speaking after the vote Chamber President Derek Shannon said of the decision.  “The Chamber had already made a submission on this issue.  Our greatest concern was that a reduction in LPT revenue would have directly resulted in an increase in commercial rates for the business community in County Carlow in order to ‘balance the books’. The decision taken by the Councillors again takes away some uncertainty for local member businesses.”
