About The Role

Arboretum is seeking a passionate, customer-focused Part Time Sales Assistant to join our Indoor Houseplant Team at Arboretum Leighlinbridge.

This is a customer-facing horticultural retail role, ideal for someone who loves plants and enjoys helping customers make confident, informed choices for their homes. You’ll play an important role in maintaining high horticultural standards, delivering outstanding service, and creating an inspiring plant shopping experience.

Every day brings variety — from caring for plant stock and merchandising displays to engaging with customers and sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • • Customer Service Excellence: Deliver a professional, friendly, and engaging service, understanding customer needs and striving to exceed expectations at every opportunity.
  • • Sales & Product Support: Proactively support sales across the houseplant area through excellent product knowledge, confident recommendations, and a warm, welcoming approach.
  • • Plant Care & Presentation: Maintain the health, quality, and visual appeal of indoor plant stock through watering, feeding, tidying, and general care.
  • • Product Knowledge: Stay up to date with plant care advice, seasonal trends, and new product lines to support customers with confidence.
  • • Merchandising & Displays: Maintain and create eye-catching plant displays to Arboretum’s award-winning standards, ensuring POS and plant labelling are accurate and current.
  • • Stock & Operations Support: Assist with goods inwards, stock rotation, wastage control, stock counts, and general day-to-day running of the department in line with company procedures.
  • • Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues and management to ensure smooth operations and a consistently high-quality customer experience.

What You’ll Bring:

  • • Qualification in Horticulture or relating field (preferred but not essential)
  • • A genuine love of plants, gardening, and horticulture.
  • • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build positive customer relationships.
  • • Good general plant knowledge, with a desire to continue learning and developing horticultural expertise.
  • • A positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to support the wider team.
  • • Attention to detail and pride in presentation and standards.
  • • Previous retail or horticultural experience is desirable but not essential — enthusiasm and the right attitude are key.
