County Carlow Chamber President Derek Shannon launches Business Gathering Initiative

Call to Action from Chamber President to Business Community, Clubs, Societies and Carlow Diaspora to Choose Carlow for their Business Event in 2015

Friday, 12th June 2015: The Business Gathering was launched at a special Luncheon event today by the new President of County Carlow Chamber, Derek Shannon. The launch took place in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel and was attended by members of the County Carlow’s business community.  Mr. Shannon was joined at the launch by Councillor John Murphy, Chairperson of Carlow Tourism, Pat Deering T.D., and Interim Chief Executive of Carlow County Council, Dan McInerney.

The Business Gathering is an initiative between County Carlow Chamber and Carlow Tourism promoting County Carlow as an ideal destination for business meetings and conferences over the next twelve months. It aims to boost business to Carlow over the coming year with a knock-on positive effect for tourism. The initiative is further supported by hotels and venues from across the County of Carlow.

Launching the initiative today, Mr. Shannon said, “County Carlow Chamber is delighted to be working in close partnership with Carlow Tourism on this exciting initiative. County Carlow has a huge amount to offer businesses and associations who wish to hold their business events in the County. Not only is Carlow an hour from Dublin via the M9 or public transport but it is readily accessible within the South-East, East and Midlands regions making Carlow an ideal location to gather for business, with the additional offering of good value, friendly hospitality and lots to see and do.”

With a clear call to action to County Carlow, Mr. Shannon said, “Today we’re asking the business community, Carlow’s various club and societies and the entire Carlow diaspora to encourage your business, club, society, union or association to choose Carlow for their business meeting or conference in the coming 12 months.  The initiative calls for wide engagement from a variety of sectors of the community and businesses or organisations requiring more details should contact the Chamber directly.”

Cllr. John Murphy, Chairperson of Carlow Tourism stated “Carlow Tourism was delighted to become involved in this important initiative with County Carlow Chamber, designed to profile Carlow as an ideal destination for business, conference and incentive meetings. The county is an attractive location for business events with a wide variety of venues of all sizes to suit smaller, intimate gatherings or larger business events. With dedicated staff in each of the venues featured, business and conference organisers are assured of the utmost attention to detail. We are pleased that this initiative will assist a large number of Carlow Tourism members, be they hotels or some of the excellent outdoor activity organisations which offer a high quality experience to business attendees.”
