Consultation on Granting Market Economy Status to China

The EC has launched this week a public consultation on the impact of the granting/or not of Market Economy Status (MES) to China. This results from certain provisions in China’s accession protocol to the WTO expiring at the end of this year, raising a series of legal questions as to the impact this would have on the EU anti-dumping regulations. More importantly, significant economic impacts could be expected, which is also the aim of the consultation launched by the EC this week.
