Chamber Welcomes MSD Jobs Announcement

Feb 15, 2016

15:2:15: County Carlow Chamber welcomes this morning’s (15.2.16) announcement by MSD that an additional 110 jobs are to be created at its Carlow facility. The announcement is part of a wider announcement across three MSD sites in Ireland which will create a total of 200 new jobs.

Commenting on the jobs announcement, Chamber President, Derek Shannon, said, “This is an enormously positive indication from a global multinational in Carlow and a great boost for the region. It will bring a new sense of confidence to the county and strengthens Carlow’s reputation as a choice location to do business.”

MSD in Carlow, the company’s only standalone vaccine and biologics facility outside the US, is creating 110 new roles spanning production, engineering and quality control.

Recognised as Ireland’s Pharma Company and Biopharma Company of the Year in 2015, MSD already employs over 2,000 people across five sites in Ireland – in Dublin, Carlow, Cork, Tipperary and Wicklow. Its extensive Irish operations, encompassing manufacturing, commercial, global financial services and marketing facilities, had a turnover of €3 billion in 2014.

Details on open roles at MSD are available at www.msd.ie.
